‘Keep that up and...’ - Nathan Lyon responds to fan imitating his bowling action
Lyon took to X to react to a video shared by an Indian fan where the latter was showcasing his spin bowling skills.
Veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has been an influential player for Australia over the years. Throughout his playing career, Lyon has bowled several remarkable spells and has taken many brilliant wickets, even surpassing the 500-wicket mark in the longest format for his nation in Tests.
Lyon recently used X (formerly Twitter) to react to a video shared by an Indian fan, showcasing the fan's spin bowling skills and even emulating Lyon's bowling action. The fan posted, “Hello Sir I am Balram Kumar This is my Bowling video Please Check,” and went on to tag both Lyon and Ravichandran Ashwin. Seeing the clip, Lyon had a wholesome reaction and replied, “Keep that up and you’ll play higher grades quickly.”
You look at Ashwin, he's a world-class bowler: Lyon
Recently, joining Nathan Lyon on the list, veteran Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin took his 500th Test wicket for India, being just the fifth spinner to achieve this feat. It's worth noting that both Ashwin and Lyon have been fierce competitors on the field but have a close camaraderie off it.
After Ashwin reached the milestone, Lyon took to X to share a clip where he congratulated Ashwin for taking 500 Test wickets.
"You look at Ashwin, he's a world-class bowler and somebody I've watched closely from the start of his career. We've gone head-to-head many times in different conditions around the world. I've got nothing but respect for Ashwin and the way he's gone about it. I've definitely learned from him,” Lyon said in the clip.
"There's an opportunity to learn from the people you play against, and without knowing it, he's probably been one of my biggest coaches in a way. It's pretty amazing to see we're both creeping up to that 500 mark, and we'll see where we end up. Hopefully, at the end of our career, we'll sit down and have a nice feed and a beer and talk about it,” he added.
