Khalistani Terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu threatens to attack ODI World Cup 2023

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will get underway in India from October 05 as ten nations will fight among themselves for the biggest prize in world cricket. The finalists of the last year’s edition England and New Zealand will kick off the tournament with their opening fixture at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, the cricketing extravaganza has got a threat from Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the head of the Khalistani organisation Sikhs for Justice, who has threatened to attack during the tournament. Notably, the Narendra Modi Stadium will also host the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash on October 14 and the final of the tournament on November 19. Pannu was declared a terrorist under UAPA in July 2020.

A call recording of Pannu threatening to attack the World Cup has been going viral all over social media where he is accusing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian Ambassador Sanjay Kumar Verma in Ottawa of disrespecting Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“On Shaheed Nijjar’s assassination, we are going to use ballot against your bullet. We are going to use the vote against your violence. Remember, this October, it will not be the World Cricket Cup. It will be the beginning of the World Terror Cup. The message is from Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the SFJ general council,” Pannu is heard saying in the viral audio.

“India and the Modi regime have insulted Prime Minister Trudeau. Modi regime, it is advisable that you shut down your embassy in Ottawa and bring back your ambassador Verma. This advice is from the Canadians and this advice is from Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the SFJ general council. We are going to hold Modi and Ambassador Verma accountable for disrespecting Prime Minister Trudeau. It’s very wise to bring back Verma and shut down the Ottawa embassy,” he added.

India-Canada relations in turmoil

Notably, the political tensions have increased between India and Canada since Khalistani Terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada on June 18. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau accused the Indian intelligence agencies of being behind the murder of the terrorist while India has vehemently neglected the allegations.
