Happy birthday KL Rahul: King of class turns a year older
The day of April 18 not only marked the beginning of the IPL but also happens to the birthday of KL Rahul.
The day of April 18 is not only a celebration of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which began on this historic day, but also the birthday of one of India’s most talented wicketkeeper-batters — KL Rahul, who turns 33 today.
The Karnataka batter is renowned for his effortless stroke-play and his ability to score big runs against the best teams in the world, whether in domestic, franchise, or international cricket. Rahul rose to prominence after scoring a century in his debut Test series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014–15. This was just the beginning, as he went on to deliver incredible performances in the IPL.
Eventually, KL Rahul established himself as one of the modern stars of Indian cricket. He now ranks among the top 10 run-getters in IPL history and holds an impressive international record as well. Rahul’s consistency and elegance have made him a fan favourite across formats.
KL Rahul has started this season on a strong note while representing the Delhi Capitals, his fifth franchise in the tournament. The wicketkeeper-batter is currently the highest run-scorer for the team, amassing 238 runs in five matches at an average of 59.50 and a strike rate of 154.54.
The Axar Patel-led side even celebrated Rahul in a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), featuring a video that showcased glimpses of his journey from childhood to present-day achievements.

He has achieved significant success in international cricket as well, playing some memorable knocks in Test matches and proving to be one of India’s most reliable batters in white-ball formats. Rahul boasts an ODI average of 49.08 and a T20I average of 37.75.
