KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty blessed with baby girl

Indian cricketer KL Rahul and his actress wife Athiya Shetty welcomed their first child, a baby girl. The couple took to Instagram to share the news. Rahul, who joined his new IPL team Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 2025 season, missed their opening game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Vizag on March 24.

Rahul and Athiya tied the knot in January 2023 at a private ceremony at actor Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Alibaug. The duo announced their pregnancy in November last year. Rahul flew back to Mumbai on Sunday night to be with his wife after receiving special permission from the Delhi Capitals management.

KL Rahul acquired for INR 14 crore by DC in IPL 2025 mega auction

The right-hand batter was set to make his debut for the franchise this season after being acquired for INR 14 crore in the IPL mega auction. After missing his team's season opener, Rahul is expected to return for Capitals' second game, which will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 30.

Meanwhile, Rahul’s recent form has been exceptional. He was one of India's brilliant performers during their victorious ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. However, he has been absent from India’s T20I squad for a while and will be looking to get back his place in the shortest format. Before the IPL season, he trained with India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Mumbai to prepare for the tournament.

Delhi's new skipper captain Axar Patel addressed the media on the eve of their match against LSG, stating that there was no clear answer regarding Rahul’s availability. However, the team management has extended their support to their star batter during this special time.
