Kuldeep Yadav visits Bageshwar Dham Sarkar with family ahead of ODI World Cup 2023

Indian left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav visited the holy shrine of Bageshwar Dham Sarkar in Madhya Pradesh with his family on Wednesday, September 20. Kuldeep was recently awarded Player of the Series in the Asia Cup 2023 where he picked nine wickets from four innings at an average of 11.44 and an economy of 3.61 with one four-wicket haul and one fifer to his name.

The 28-year-old has made a remarkable comeback to the Indian team since 2022 which cleared the path for his selection in the ODI World Cup 2023. Ahead of the mega event, the Kanpur-born cricketer visited the sacred ashram to seek blessings for the all-important.

 

Notably, Kuldeep is India’s second-highest wicket-taker since 2022 with 43 wickets to his name from 23 innings at an average of 18.93 and an economy of 4.70 with three four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul to his name. The left-arm spinner has made a remarkable comeback to the team after going through the worst phase of his career from 2020-2021.

Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar also recently showered praise on Kuldeep and hailed him as the trump card of the team in the World Cup.

“I have spent a couple of years along with in the IPL, he is a guy with special skill set and he is showing that on the field right now. He is one of India's trump card right now. Clearly, most teams are finding him as a challenge at this moment,” said Agarkar in the press conference.

India to start World Cup campaign with a game against Australia on October 08

The left-arm spinner has been rested for the first two ODIs of the upcoming series vs Australia and will return to action during the third ODI on Wednesday, September 27 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. Following the end of the Australia series, India will head straight into the World Cup scheduled to begin from October 05 in India. The Rohit Sharma-led side will start their campaign against Australia on October 08 in Chennai.
