The altercation between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir during Match 43 of the IPL 2023 at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow was the most talked about moment of the recent season. Following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) 18-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kohli and Gambhir had a heated conversation as the two teams exchanged pleasantries after the match was over.

Recently, LSG and West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers expressed his thoughts on the infamous incident and said that being aggressive is always good. Notably, Kohli got angry after Gambhir snatched Mayer’s hand and took him away while he was having a conversation with the RCB star.

“It's great, sometimes you need to get at your opposition, to create any chance to get out of the game. Being aggressive is always good, it shows courage and the willingness to get your team over the line,” Mayers said on FanCode.

Following the incident, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came down heavily on Kohli and Gambhir imposed heavy fines. Gambhir was charged 75 per cent of his match fees and later admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct, while Kohli was fined his entire match fees.

Further speaking in the video, Mayers was asked about whose wicket would he cherish the most between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and he chose Kohli calling him the best player across all three formats.

“I think Kohli, Any bowler would want to dismiss Kohli, the best player across all three formats," he said.

India and West Indies to play second T20I on August 06

Meanwhile, Mayers didn’t have a good outing in the first T20I against India as he got dismissed for just 1 (7) by Yuzvendra Chahal. However, despite that West Indies managed to beat India by four runs. Batting first, the hosts scored 149/6 with captain Rovman Powell (48 off 32) top scoring. In reply, India could only manage to reach 145/9 with Jason Holder (2/19) getting Player of the Match. The two teams will next lock horns in the second T20I on Sunday, August 06 at Providence Stadium, Guyana.
