The cricket fraternity was taken aback after a media report recently suggested that Shubman Gill had 'disciplinary issues' during his time with the Indian team in the USA as a travelling reserve. However, India's batting coach Vikram Rathour quashed the rumours, revealing that the decision to send Shubman and Avesh Khan back to India ahead of the Super Eight stage was taken well before the T20 World Cup 2024 got underway.
Speculations of a rift between Gill and India captain Rohit Sharma had also popped up on social media. There were rumours that Gill had unfollowed the veteran on Instagram, hinting at a possible fallout in their relationship. However, after batting coach Vikram Rathour put the rumours to bed, Gill came up with a savage response on Instagram, which featured Rohit.
"Sammy and I learning the art of discipline from @rohitsharma45." Gill wrote in the captain of his Instagram story featuring Rohit and and his daughter Samaira.

“This was a plan from the beginning. When we come to the US, four players will come together. After that two will be released and two will travel with us to West Indies. So, this plan was made from the beginning since the team was selected. This was planned so we are just following that,” said Rathour during the press conference.
So, while Gill and Avesh will be returning to India, the other two travelling reserves, Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed, will continue to be with the Men in Blue.
