Star India batter Shreyas Iyer recently took to social media, where he slammed several publications for spreading reports of him missing Mumbai’s next Ranji game with an injury. It is worth noting that Mumbai is slated to face Tripura from October 26, and some reports have come forward stating that Iyer could miss the clash.

Iyer has played the first two Ranji games for Mumbai, taking on Baroda and Maharashtra, scoring 172 runs in three innings, maintaining an average over 57. However, as reports emerged of Iyer missing the Tripura game with an injury, the star batter was quick to reply.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Iyer opined that the publications should be doing their homework before spreading such news. “Guys seriously let’s do some homework before publishing news,” Iyer tweeted.

No matter whatever people think outside, I have to listen to my body: Iyer

Recently, after hitting a match winning century against Maharashtra, Shreyas Iyer came forward and revealed that he has put in his best effort to avoid the outside noises regarding his back injury. He also stated that he is doing his best to maintain his current level of fitness.

"No matter whatever people think outside, I have to listen to my body because I know the amount of threshold I've carried over the last few years and based on that I'll be taking the right decision and I hope that my team will also back (me). But I'm in a good space right now. I'm doing what I'm meant to do, that is training and playing matches consistently,” Iyer was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

"And I feel that all the matches I've played right now in the past have helped me gain that fitness level. This is my seventh match on the trot and yeah, the body has taken a lot of load. We have to manage here and there and see to it that I strategize in terms of how I play,” he added.
