Samit Dravid, former Indian coach and legendary batter Rahul Dravid's son, made his senior men's debut in the 2024 edition of the Maharaja T20 Trophy this week.

Although the youngster could not make much of an impact, scoring seven runs in each of the two innings for Mysuru Warriors so far, it was a shot he unleashed against Bengaluru Blasters pacer Match 4 which elicited stirring reactions and comparisons with his father, Rahul Dravid, on social media.

Samit, batting on one off five deliveries with the Warriors' score on 59/3, maintained extreme stillness to transfer his weight to the backfoot and launch a pull over the deep midwicket fence, sending the ball deep into yellow and red-coloured M. Chinnaswamy Stadium stands in Bengaluru.

However, Samit could not continue the show for long, as was caught behind on the very next delivery, falling for a run-a-ball seven. The netizens coud not stop themselves from comparing Samit's free-flowing bat-swing with his father and mentor.

Samit, a promising young all-rounder, captured attention with his performances in the 2023-24 Cooch Behar Trophy. Batting in the middle-order, he contributed significantly to Karnataka's title-winning campaign, amassing 362 runs across eight matches at an impressive average of 36.20.
