‘Looking good in blue’ - LSG share clip of Devdutt Padikkal as he joins franchise ahead of IPL 2024

In a major shakeup ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, it was recently announced that star Indian batter Devdutt Padikkal has been traded from Rajasthan Royals to Lucknow Super Giants. With LSG pacer Avesh Khan coming to RR in exchange for Padikkal. 

Joining the one-time champions in 2022, Padikkal played 28 matches for Rajasthan across the two seasons and scored 637 runs, scoring three half-centuries, and he will look to put in similar performances for Lucknow as well. 

With his move to the KL Rahul-led side finalised, Lucknow Super Giants took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a clip of Padikkal in which he talked of how excited he is to represent Lucknow in the IPL and to play under the guidance of KL Rahul and Justin Langer. “Looking good in blue, Dev!,” LSG captioned the post.

“Hi everyone. First of all, I’d just like to say thank you to the management at the Lucknow Super Giants for giving me this opportunity to represent their franchise. I am really looking forward to playing under KL and his guidance, and I always enjoyed batting with him as well. So I’m looking forward to doing that again. I also had a chat with JL (Justin Langer) and I can tell that he is really committed and I’m looking forward to learning a lot form him as he is such an experienced coach and he has achieved a lot in his career as well,” Devdutt Padikkal said in the clip.

Avesh Khan moves to Rajasthan Royals

In exchange for Devdutt Padikkal, Lucknow Super Giants traded 26-year-old Indian pacer, Avesh Khan. The pacer played 22 matches for Lucknow across the two seasons and picked up 26 wickets in the process.

It could be interesting to see how Avesh is integrated into the lineup of Rajasthan Royals, who have the likes of Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, and many other star players on their side.
