'Love it when IPL matches are played in day-fight format' - Iceland Cricket takes hilarious dig at Virat Kohli-Gautam Gambhir verbal spat
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were seen having a furious conversation after LSG vs RCB encounter in Lucknow.
The match 43 of IPL 2023 saw temperatures soaring in the field as Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli got involved in a heated conversation with Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir. The duo reportedly holds a grudge against each other ever since their verbal spat in IPL 2013 during a game between RCB vs KKR.
Taking a hilarious dig at the post-match drama that unfolded in Lucknow, Iceland Cricket tweeted that they love it when IPL games are played in the ‘day-fight’ format. Iceland Cricket took to Twitter following RCB’s 18-run win over LSG and wrote, “We love it when IPL matches are played using the day-fight format.”
It all began when Gambhir interfered a conversation between Kohli and LSG opener Kyle Mayers irked by the former’s on-field spat with Naveen-ul-Haq. The former KKR skipper pulled Mayers away to interrupt their chat which annoyed Kohli and they both began charging at each other aggressively.
The duo had a face-to-face chat where Kohli could be seen trying to calm Gambhir down putting a hand on his shoulder. However, there were no signs of things cooling down between the two as they were seen involved in a furious conversation and had to be separated by KL Rahul and Amit Mishra.
Notably, Kohli looked at his aggressive best during the second innings of the match as he celebrated every wicket quite animatedly on the field. He even silenced the crowd after taking a catch at long-off to dismiss Krunal Pandya. The celebration is reportedly being assumed as a reply to Gautam Gambhir who did a similar gesture after LSG’s win over RCB in Bengaluru during their earlier clash in IPL 2023.
Social Media Handles of both teams further ignited the rivalry
The heated rivalry could be seen even in the social media handles of the respective teams as RCB tweeted the photograph of Kohli silencing the crowd and wrote, “What goes around comes around! 🤫 Our 12th Man Army send their regards. 🤷♂️.”. They even retweeted LSG’s celebratory post after their thrilling one-wicket win over RCB during match 15 of the ongoing season where they had taken a dig at RCB’s catchphrase ‘Play Bold’.
LSG had taken to Twitter and written, “Ladies & gentlemen, this is how you...𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘 𝐁𝐎𝐋𝐃 ”. Igniting the rivalry between the two teams RCB retweeted the post and replied to LSG in their own style by using their (LSG’s) catchphrase 'Adab see Harayenge'. “Adab se Haraye! 🫡 #PlayBold.," RCB's Twitter handle posted after their 18-run win.
