Veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the star of the show for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the side’s recent win against Rajasthan Royals. Both sides faced off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in the 50th game of the tournament on Thursday, May 2.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a sensational final over, defending two runs off the final ball. Kumar bowled a full toss to Powell, which the Windies batter could not hit, and was eventually dismissed as SRH won the game by one run.
For his performance, Kumar was named the Player of the Match, and SRH skipper Pat Cummins took to Instagram and heaped praise on the veteran pacer, opining that he loves playing alongside him.
"Love playing alongside this bloke! Brilliant fight back with bat and ball to chalk up a brilliant win," Pat Cummins captioned his picture alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Instagram.
It was an amazing game: Cummins
Furthermore, SRH skipper Pat Cummins lauded the quality of the clash that took place against the Royals. The star Aussie pacer heaped praise on T Natarajan for his brilliant bowling in the death overs and even lauded the performance of youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was instrumental in SRH reaching a total of 201 runs in the first innings.
"It was an amazing game. That's T20 cricket. Anything can happen, Bhuvi executed that last ball. You try to take some wickets in the middle. Natarajan is a good yorker bowler, fortunately, we got some wickets," Cummins was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.
“We played some games here, thought 200 could have been chased down. He (Nitish Reddy) sums up the conditions pretty well, he's amazing, great in the field, gives some overs with the ball as well," Cummins added.
The win against RR saw SRH move up to fourth in the IPL 2024 standings. With six wins and four losses in 10 matches, Hyderabad are well in the race for the playoffs, and a win against table toppers Rajasthan Royals would provide them with a significant confidence boost.
