Test cricket returned to India, as England took on the hosts at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad for the first Test, which began on Thursday, January 25. At the end of Day 1, certain fans who came flying from England to watch the cricketing giants in action seemed to be disgusted by the pathetic washroom and drinking water facilities at the venue, as per some images that are doing the rounds on social media.
Following the usual security procedure, spectators are not allowed to bring along any harmful materials that are mentioned under the prohibited items' list. These include certain chemicals, specified drugs, laptops and other computer devices, cameras, flags, pointed and sharp objects, to name a few. To facilitate smooth conduct of the match, water bottles are also not permitted to carry in.
However, a section of English fans called for not allowing the said materials inside the stands, stating that it caused them much discomfort. They also raised concerns at the unhygienic and dirty conditions of toilets at the venue's facility for the general public. Apart from soiled restrooms, unavailability of packaged and mineral drinking water was also put out in the post on 'X'.

Sun cream, water and flag taken by security/police on the gates. Then not selling any bottled water or sun cream in the ground. Everything extremely dirty too. Lovely toilets to boot. Can’t wait to come back for more tomorrow 😁 pic.twitter.com/llq47bb5D7

The venue at Uppal also received a lot of hammering from the fans for its pathetic seating arrangements during the ODI World Cup fixtures. Taking necessary actions to improve their reputation, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) officials also announced various undertakings. This included online-exclusive sale of tickets, free entry to army personnel and school students, and improved seating conditions.
It is noteworthy to mention that the venue recently received a revamp before hosting the ongoing first Test, and even missed a few fixtures in the ongoing Ranji Trophy to be 100% match-ready for the all-important fixture between India and the Three Lions. With three days still to go in the game, the association still has time to make necessary amends to the condition for fans, who spend a lot of their time and money to watch their favourite cricketers lock horns.
