Former Kolkata Knight Riders player Robin Uthappa took a dig at the franchise after questions were raised about his support for the Chennai Super Kings. Notably, the former cricketer was in the stands, supporting CSK in Qualifier 1 and that’s when a fan pointed out that Uthappa had never shown so much love for KKR, a franchise he played for six years and won the IPL trophy with.

In reply to that, the 37-year-old mentioned that loyalty and respect is a give and take thing. Even though he hasn’t clarified much but it can be understood that Uthappa was hurt by the way KKR treated him in the past. Notably, the two-time champions chose Dinesh Karthik over Uthappa in the captaincy race before eventually releasing the cricketer in 2019.

"Loyalty and respect is a give and take my friend!!" Uthappa replied to a fan who had commented on his post saying: ."Bro played one-two seasons with Chennai and sold his soul I have never seen him supporting KKR like this"

Uthappa lauds CSK players after terrific win over GT

Coming to the match, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in the Qualifier 1 to make it to their 10th final in IPL history. Batting first, the MS Dhoni-led side posted 172 runs on board, courtesy of a brilliant opening partnership of 87 runs between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Gaikwad eventually smashed 60 runs off 44 deliveries while Conway hit 40 runs off 34 deliveries. Later on, Ambati Rayudu (17 runs off nine deliveries) and Ravindra Jadeja (22 runs off 16 deliveries) chipped in well to help the team post a defending total.

When it came to the chase, in-form batter Shubman Gill looked to be in great touch but wickets were falling from one end. The youngster eventually scored 38 runs off 42 deliveries as GT managed to score 157 only. Rashid Khan tried his best towards the fag end but Tushar Deshpande got the better of him. Meanwhile, Jadeja impressed with the ball as well, picking up two wickets. Pacer Deepak Chahar too looked impressive with the new ball.

Meanwhile, after the match, Uthappa lauded the CSK players for playing a brilliant brand of cricket in Chepauk and making it to another final. He also added that one can’t write GT off as they can make a strong comeback.

“What a roar @ChennaiIPL!! Top win to enter the finale! Amazing all-round performance from @imjadeja & a super start from the openers @Ruutu1331 & @D_Conway88 !! @deepak_chahar9 & @maheesht61 just outstanding!! Don’t write off GT yet! They will come back stronger,” Uthappa wrote.
