Former Sri Lanka medium-pacer Farveez Maharoof was involved in an awkward moment during his commentary stint in the Lanka Premier League 2022. Ahead of the league fixture between Kandy Falcons and Colombo Stars on Saturday, Maharoof and former West Indian cricketer Darren Ganga were present for the live studio show hosted by sports broadcaster Neroli Meadows.

While speaking about the upcoming game, Meadows was throwing questions towards Maharoof when the latter was pooped on by a bird. Although it is quite common, it turned out to be an awkward moment for Maharoof and Meadows could not stop taking a dig at the seamer. It turned out to be a funny incident in the end as Meadows was left in splits.

“I think you were surprised by what just happened to you,” told Meadows as she was about to laugh.

“Maybe my good luck today,” Maharoof replied in a confused manner and saw the funny side of it in the end. He also continued commentating with it which was fascinating to note.

“Kandy Falcons have struck early here in Colombo,” Meadows replied in a hysterical manner and burst into laughter.

Maharoof then got cleaned up during a short break and he returned with a positive note stating "In Sri-Lanka they say that’s the good luck coming in."

Meanwhile, Kandy Falcons won the fixture against Colombo Stars comfortably by a big margin after bowling out the opposition side for just 106. Chamika Karunaratne’s four-wicket spell combined with Oshane Thomas picking up three wickets meant that Colombo Stars batters couldn't stitch a big partnership together.

The Kandy Falcons chased down the score in just 16 overs on the back of an unbeaten half-century from Kamindu Mendis and Andre Fletcher provided good support from the other end. The franchise finished at the top of the points table with seven wins in eight games and will play the Jaffna Kings in the Qualifier 1 for a spot in the finals.
