The auction of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is right around the corner and the fans lie in anticipation to see which players are sold to the different franchises.

One franchise that with many eyes set upon it are the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings. There are speculations that young pacer Matheesha Pathirana is set to leave Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2024. However, the Sri Lankan has seemingly responded to those reports with a cryptic story on his Instagram account. “No money can buy loyalty,” Pathirana wrote.

It is worth noting that the auction for the IPL 2024 will be held in Dubai on December 19, and it could be interesting to see how the various franchises fare in the event ahead of the 17th edition of the marquee tournament.

Pathirana was sensational for Chennai in the IPL 2023, taking 19 wickets in 12 matches and maintaining an economy rate of 8.00. His spells were crucial to Super Kings’ title-winning season. Furthermore, he featured in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 as well. However, he failed to perform to the best of his abilities in the prestigious tournament as Sri Lanka was eliminated from the group stages of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Pathirana recently took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to show his support and offer condolences for the victims and the people trapped in the devastating Chennai floods.

“Stay safe, my Chennai! The storm may be fierce, but our resilience is stronger. Better days are just around the corner. Take care, stay indoors, and look out for one another,” Pathirana posted.
