Jahnvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer 'Mr. and Mrs. Mahi' released in theatres on Friday, May 31, and the film collected INR 6.85 crore on the first day at the India box office. A lot of movie critics and fans on the internet are praising Jahnvi for playing her role of a cricketer exceptionally in the movie. The netizens are also lauding her batting techniques and stroke-making abilities, especially her free swing of the blade to middle the ball and deliver it into the stands.
Meanwhile, the actress revealed that she received formal coaching from none other than Kolkata Knight Riders' assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Jahnvi shared that Nayar taught her the formal techniques and trained her in the same way he does with the players of the KKR squad. Furthermore, the Bollywood actress also added that she went to a training camp alongside star cricketer Dinesh Karthik.
"My coach is actually KKR's (assistant) coach, Abhishek Nayar. At his training camp, he was training me in the same way he does for an IPL season along with the KKR players. I went to this training camp alongside Dinesh Karthik. And my training program was the same as Karthik's. We know a lot about street cricket, but the kind of technical form of knowledge required in professional cricket—the understanding of timing the ball, that is what makes it very difficult,” Jahnvi was quoted as saying (translated from Hindi/partially English)
“Abhishek Nayar did a perfect job twice in one season,” a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) sharing the video of Janhvi's revelation.

Meanwhile, Nayar is also receiving a lot of praises for handling his coaching duties with perfection, as he also led KKR to their third title as an assistant coach in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. And now that the ex-Mumbai batter has also nourished an actor with textbook cricketing shots, it is quite evident that he excels at his job.
Talking about the film, the Karan Johar-produced movie has more than seven thousand reviews and a rating of 7.3 out of 10 on popular movie rating platform IMDb. Apart from Janhvi and Rajkummar, the film has veteran actors like Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, and Zarina Wahab in key supporting roles, while popular composer Amit Trivedi alongside Manan Bharadwaj has given the background score.
