MI Emirates and MI Cape Town unveil official match kits for forthcoming ILT20 and SA20 season

The Mumbai Indians (MI) Global, on Thursday, unveiled the official match kits that MI Emirates and MI Cape Town will be donning in the inaugural seasons of ILT20 and the SA20 respectively. Earlier this year, Mumbai Indians, owned by Reliance Industries Limited expanded its stature as they acquired a team from South Africa and UAE each, in the SA20 and ILT20.

The new members of Mumbai Indians 'One Family' - MI Emirates and MI Cape Town are set to debut in their respective leagues as the inaugural season is to begin in January 2023. Designer duo Shantnu & Nikhil crafted the iconic jerseys which feature the traditional MI blue & gold colour scheme dedicated to the local fans, pay homage to the culture and history of the two regions.

The designer duo expressed their delight in crafting the official kits of the teams and stated that they were elated to bring forth the iconic jersey.

“Our long association with Mumbai Indians for over a decade, has always brought a fresh perspective to the iconic ‘Blue and Gold’ jersey, rooted with a large story and meaning conveyed through each creation. Getting inspired by culture, sportsmanship, local elements along with infusion of art, we have always centred our approach around the world as one big family.

"This year we dived deep into indigenous culture, marrying it with millennial approach and creating jerseys that reflect the pride that the team upholds. We are elated to bring forth these iconic jerseys to the people that celebrate this sport religiously,” told the duo designer.

Caribbean star all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been named as the skipper of the MI Emirates whereas Rashid Khan will lead the MI Cape Town in their respective seasons.
