As Suryakumar Yadav scored a breathtaking century against Gujarat Titans in Match 57 of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians' mentor and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was left thoroughly impressed as the master could be replicating one of his shots in the dugout.

In the penultimate over of the innings, Surya sliced a Mohammad Shami delivery to hit an incredible six over short third man. Following that, Tendulkar could be seen playing out the same shot in the pavilion as he showed it to Piyush Chawla who was sitting beside him to witness the Surya show.

Talking more about the shot, Surya displayed his flamboyance on the second delivery of the 18th over when Shami pitched a delivery up on the off side which was acrobatically directed by Surya to take a leap over short third man. It left an impression as if he intended to power it down the ground but flicked his wrist right on time to give effect to the mesmerising hit.

Surya eventually went on to score 103 runs, as he remained unbeaten in his 49-ball innings. He amassed those runs at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 210.20, courtesy of as many as 17 boundaries - 11 fours and six sixes.

How do you hit a cover drive but get it over third man for six? We watched SKY do it here and still can't understand. What about you? 😵‍💫 #IPLonJioCinema #MIvGT

Rashid Khan's purple patch earns him the Purple Cap

Amidst Surya's fireworks with the bat, Rashid Khan was the only other player in the middle who had his share of fame, as the Aghan wizard continued his tricks with the ball to claim as many as four victims in the MI unit.

He gave GT their first breakthrough by getting rid of Rohit Sharma, immediately after the powerplay. In the very same over, he sent Rohit's opening partner, Ishan Kishan, packing as well to reduce MI to 66/2. He then returned to claim Nehal Wadhera and Tim David to complete his four-wicket haul. The only other wicket that fell for MI was claimed by Mohit Sharma.

Rashid thus finished his four-over spell with impressive figures of 4/30, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal in the process to earn the Purple Cap. While Chahal has captured 21 wickets so far in the tournament, Rashid went past him with 23 scalps after his brilliance against MI.
