Virat Kohli wicket against MI: IPL/BCCI

Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squared off in the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai, on Tuesday, May 9. MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited RCB to bat first.

The Aussie pacer, Jason Behrendorff, proved his skipper's decision right by providing a massive breakthrough as he dismissed RCB opener Virat Kohli in the very first over. Kohli was trying to charge at the Aussie but instead ended up nicking the ball to the MI wicketkeeper, Ishan Kishan. The on-field first umpire called it a not out but the DRS review gave the decision in favour of MI.

In T20 cricket, Kohli has a relatively low strike rate against MI bowler Behrendorff. Kohli has only scored 25 runs in six innings, with an average of 8.3 and a strike rate of 113.6. Notably, the Australian had dismissed the former RCB skipper three times in the shortest format of the game.

Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell help RCB score 56 runs in the powerplay

Meanwhile, speaking of the match, the Australian pacer, Jason Behrendorff, also dismissed Anuj Rawat for six runs after scalping Kohli. The number three batter attempted a scoop shot but ended up giving all-rounder Cameron Green a simple catch. However, the RCB all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, came in and joined his skipper, Faf du Plessis, to steady RCB's innings as they were 56/2 after the powerplay.

Notably, Glenn Maxwell was on fire as he hammered every MI bowler relentlessly. From the other end, he received good assistance from du Plessis as he raced to his 17th IPL half-century off just 25 balls. After Maxwell, du Plessis too notched up his 31st IPL fifty.
