Michael Vaughan converses with Mumbai taxi driver over India, England semifinal clash

Michael Vaughan has been associated with India for several years as a broadcaster and a panelist for cricket shows. As a result, the former England captain does not miss a chance to savour the local essence of India. Previously, the veteran cricketer was seen having his beard done in a local barber shop and played gully cricket in the suburbs of Mumbai. Adding a new chapter to his exploration in India, he was seen conversing with a taxi driver in Mumbai again. 

Vaughan queried the chauffeur whether India stand a chance to win the T20 World Cup 2024 and also requested his opinion on the upcoming semi-final against England. The person was gracious enough to indulge in the conversation and opined that India would emerge victorious in the semis. For the unversed, India will take on England in semi-final 2 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 27.

No reserve day for India v/s England semifinal clash

India and England have a history at the T20 World Cups that date back to 2007. In the first of its editions, Yuvraj Singh struck a record six maximums off Stuart Broad’s over in a league match. Down the years, England outclassed the Indian team in the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Adelaide. Two years down the lane, both teams will again face off in the semis with India having to cope with the psychological edge England will step in with.

Moreover, other than the controllable, the upcoming clash is on the verge of getting threatened by weather. If the weather did play its part, there is no reserve day for Semifinal 2 between India and England unlike Semifinal 1. The only pacifying aspect about the game is, in case it is a rain-marred one, an extra 90 minutes are allotted to fetch a result out of the fixture. In a situation where a game is not possible, India will sail through to the finals owing to high NRR and winnings.
