The excitement around the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mega-auction is palpable as fans are waiting to find out how their favourite teams will line up for the 18th edition of the tournament. The Board of of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced that the mega-auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25.

One of the most interesting names in the auction list is going to be that of England legend James Anderson, who has set his sights on playing in the cash-rich league for the first time. The 42-year-old has set his base price at INR 1.25 crore, and the cricket fraternity is waiting to find out whether he will get a home in the IPL or not.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan made a bold prediction when he said that Anderson could unite with MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings as the five-time champions have always liked to have swing bowlers in their team. Vaughan asserted that he won't be surprised if Anderson gets picked by the Men in Yellow ahead of IPL 2025.

"You mention James Anderson, I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmy Anderson ends up at Chennai Super Kings. You heard it here first. They are a team that like someone who can swing it in the first few overs. They had a swinger, be it Shardul Thakur. It would not surprise me if Jimmy Anderson ends up at ChennaI," Vaughan said on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast.

James Anderson has not played T20 cricket since 2014

Anderson is one of the finest pacers in Test cricket history. His last white-ball appearance for England came in 2015 as he focused on prolonging his red-ball career. Anderson finished with the most number of wickets in Test cricket for a seamer, bagging 704 scalps from 188 matches.

The Burnley-born has not played T20 cricket since 2014. This could work against him in the auction as teams may be apprehensive about the stalwart's skills in the shortest format of the game. However, the Super Kings have been a franchise which has backed experienced players in the past and Anderson certainly fits the bill.
