Mohammed Shami gets his stitches removed post surgery, shares update with fans
Mohammed Shami recently underwent a successful heel surgery in London.
Star India fast bowler Mohammad Shami gave an update on his recovery progress to his fans on Wednesday, March 13 as he revealed that his stitches have been removed post-surgery. Notably, Shami underwent successful surgery on February 26th, 2024, for his right heel problem in London and is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team.
The fast bowler battled through his injury throughout the ODI World Cup 2023 and was one of the biggest reasons behind Indiaโs stellar performance being the leading wicket-taker. Taking to his social media account, Shami thanked his fans for their well wishes and expressed excitement for the journey ahead.

โHello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery progress. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements I have achieved and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey. ๐,โ wrote Shami on his X account.
With Shami already ruled out of the IPL, heโs unlikely to get fit for the T20 World Cup 2024 as well scheduled to be held in the West Indies and USA from June 01. However, the seamer would hope to return back on the field before Indiaโs tour to Australia for five Tests later this year.
Shami was the leading wicket-taker of ODI World Cup 2023 and IPL 2023
Notably, Shami was on a record-breaking spree in the ODI World Cup as he finished as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 24 wickets to his name from seven innings at an average of 10.7 and an economy of 5.26. He picked three five-wicket hauls during the tournament with best figures of 7/57 against New Zealand in the all-important semi-final at Wankhede Stadium.

The speedster will be a big miss for Gujarat Titans in the upcoming IPL 2024 as he topped the bowling charts in the previous season with 28 wickets to his name from 17 innings at an average of 18.64 and an economy of 8.03. Courtesy of his stupendous show with the ball, Shami was also the Purple Cap Holder of the season.
