Team India are all set to host England in their upcoming home assignment as they kick off their white-ball campaign on Wednesday, January 22. However, before the thrilling T20I series, the squad for the coveted Champions Trophy was announced which featured some players marking their return after injury. One of them was none other than the fiery pacer, Mohammed Shami. The first T20I game will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens, in Kolkata.

Notably, Shami last played for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, after which he missed out on a majority of games in the 2024 season due to an ankle injury. Moreover, the 34-year-old pacer also missed out on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well. However, in the latest development, he is expected to make a comeback to international cricket after more than a year of absence.

In the same vein, the Bengal pacer was seen training in a recent practice session with the Indian team at the Eden Gardens. Shami started his bowling with some warmup releases and two-step bowling, while he was being closely monitored by India bowling coach, Morne Morkel. Thereafter, he took to practice pitches and bowled further and by the time Shami finished with the training, he was found bowling with full tilt and looked in great rhythm.

Though Shami was seen wearing a strap on his left knee during the session it was a great sign for the Indian team to see one of their star bowlers, bowling at full throttle. In the same regard, his training video was shared by the BCCI on their 'X' handle as well.
