Legendary India wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni will be making his much-awaited return to the cricket pitch in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). The Captain Cool will be seen taking the field as Chennai Super Kings lock horns with their southern rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening fixture of the tournament on Friday, March 22 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Ahead of the season, the five-time champions have begun practising in their home ground and Chennai’s beloved ‘Thala’ was seen in his vintage avatar during the practice sessions. Notably, ahead of the season, Dhoni has brought back his old ‘long-haired’ look and was seen plundering bowlers for massive sixes in the practice sessions. In a viral video, was seen smashing bowlers all over the ground as he gears up for the upcoming season.

Dhoni’s practice video has left his fans wanting for more as they eagerly await his comeback. Despite being away from the game for nine months, the wicketkeeper-batter is batting with utmost ease smacking bowlers for monstrous hits at will.
Notably, the Ranchi-born cricketer led CSK to their record-levelling fifth IPL title in 2023 with a thrilling five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the final. Following their win, Dhoni became the joint most successful captain of the league along with Rohit Sharma who has also led Mumbai Indians to five IPL triumphs.
MS Dhoni battled through a knee injury in 2023
Throughout the previous edition, Dhoni battled through a knee injury and made the crowd go berserk every time he walked into bat. The 42-year-old looked at his vintage best scoring 104 runs from 12 innings at a strike rate of 182.46 (his best in a single season), clobbering three fours and ten sixes.

In the upcoming season, Dhoni will look to continue his good form and lead his side to a record-breaking sixth title finishing his career on a high, provided he finally decides to hang up his boots after the upcoming season.
