'MSD will hit a six to finish the match' - Michael Hussey makes huge prediction ahead of DC vs CSK clash

The epic clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is all set to take place on Sunday, March 31 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. As the two teams prepare to lock horns, former Australian teammates turned opposing coaches, Michael Hussey and Ricky Ponting, have made contrasting predictions about the potential match-winner.

Ahead of IPL 2024, MS Dhoni stepped down from the CSK captaincy, handing over the duties to Ruturaj Gaikwad. Under Gaikwad's leadership, CSK have made a strong start, winning both their matches so far. However, Dhoni is yet to play his first delivery of the season, though he did make headlines with a brilliant catch against Gujarat Titans.

Ahead of today's match, CSK batting coach Michael Hussey predicted that the legendary Dhoni would seal the match for CSK with his trademark six. "My prediction for the last over of the match is that MS Dhoni will be batting. The crowd will be roaring and MS d will hit a six to finish the match," Hussey said in the video released by IPL's official social media page.

On the other hand, DC's head coach Ricky Ponting is confident that skipper Rishabh Pant will take charge and secure the win for his team. "What would I like to see? I would like to see Rishabh Pant on strike in the last over, Delhi with 12 to win and Rishabh hitting a boundary off the last ball to win the game for Delhi. I mean, that'd be the story that a lot of people would like to see. That's the story that the DC fans would like to see. And I'm sure there's the opposite story for the CSK fans," Ponting said

CSK are a very good team: Ricky Ponting

While CSK are coming off two back-to-back wins at home, DC are yet to register their first win in the season after facing two defeats on the trot. Hussey emphasized CSK's determination to deliver an impressive performance, while Ponting acknowledged the importance of the match for DC.

"They're going to be desperate. They're going to be looking to play a great match. We all start on zero and try and put in another good performance against Delhi. Yeah, but I think if we can just focus well on our game and try and execute our skills as best we can, then hopefully it gives us a good chance to get the result we're after," Hussey added.

Talking about the challenges of facing CSK, "You don't want to lose any games, let alone lose two in a row at the start of the tournament. So, we understand the importance of this game. CSK are a very good team. They've won their first couple of games. They won the championship last year, so I think for us right now, the bigger the challenge is probably the better for us," the DC coach said.
