The Punjab Kings (PBKS) are still in the playoff race in IPL 2025 and have some big stars within their squad. Despite some remarkable victories the team has had some questionable performances as well. The last time the franchise came close to winning the title was in 2014 when they qualified for their first IPL final.

That was also the last season when the team qualified for the playoffs, since then they have failed to achieve that feat in the last 10 years. Though there are some promising players within the team, there are experts who doubt the prospects of the team in the tournament. One of them is former PBKS player and IPL 2012 winner Manoj Tiwary, who has said that the team is not going to win the tournament this season due to their lack of confidence in Indian players.

“My gut feeling says that Punjab team will not be able to win the #IPL trophy this season because what I saw today when they were batting was, the coach (Ricky Ponting) didn’t send Indian inform batters Nehal wadera and Shasank singh, instead he trusted his foreign players to deliver, but they couldn't and clearly showed lack of confidence in Indian players down the order. If he persist in this way then the title is far from them, irrespective of there qualification in top two. #KKRvsPBKS,” wrote Tiwary on his X account.

KKR vs PBKS washed out

Speaking of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), they last featured at the Eden Gardens against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where they put up a total of 201 on the board. Unfortunately, the game was called off due to rain with the Knight Riders only managing to play one over before the weather Gods spoiled the fun for the players and the fans.

The Punjab Kings are currently fourth on the points table and have played nine games so far. They currently have 11 points with five wins, four losses and one game ending without a result. They will be hoping to keep their top-four spot in the tournament going forward.
