Former Australia cricketer David Warner is now all set to feature in the Pakistan Super League, and leading Karachi Kings in the 2025 edition. Notably, Warner had registered for the mega auction of IPL 2025 as well, but remained unsold. As a result, he decided to ply his trade in Pakistan's premier T20 competition for the ongoing season.
A reporter recently inquired Warner regarding his decision to take part in PSL, following being unsold at the IPL auctions. Warner, who is participating in PSL for the first time in his career, said that earlier, the international calendar did not allow him enough time to play the league, but now that he has retired, he is going to enjoy his time leading the Karachi Kings.
“From my perspective, it's about playing cricket. And this is an opportunity for me to come to PSL. My international calendar didn't allow me to come to PSL due to the timings. Now that I've come here, I want to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully we are able to win the trophy here,” Warner answered a query during the pre-match press conference.

Speaking of the upcoming match of the Karachi Kings, the side will be up against the Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans in the Match No. 3 on April 12. The Sultans were the finalists in the last three seasons of the PSL, while Karachi Kings are going through a four-year trophy drought and even failed to make the playoffs in the last two seasons. Warner would want to change that this season and help the team get back to their best.
Warner, meanwhile, has been actively playing T20 leagues around the globe after his retirement. He was seen playing for Sydney Sixers in BBL, then also played the 2025 season of the International League T20 (ILT20). Now, he will be hoping to make an impact with his batting in PSL as well.
