MS Dhoni is one of India's finest captains and has won three ICC events during his tenure. He is also known for being quite detached from social media and using his phone too little.

The legendary cricketer might have retired from international cricket but he is still performing well in the Indian Premier League. He led the Chennai Super Kings to a record-equaling fifth IPL title earlier this year. Dhoni might be one of the most accomplished and revered cricketers in the world but he lives a very simple life and his humble demeanour sets him apart. He has accounts on various social media platforms which are followed by millions but his fans only get to see a post from his side once in a blue moon.

In a recent public appearance, the wicketkeeper-batter was asked about the advantages of being disconnected. Dhoni said that the only time he looks for his phone is at night as he has to set the alarm for the following morning.

"It helps a lot [being disconnected]. I have a phone but the only time I look for it is at night because I have to set the alarm for the morning. So, for me, my phone basically does the job of waking me up in the morning," the 42-year-old said.

"When you are playing for India or if you are a known personality, everyone has an opinion about you. Whatever you do, there will be an opinion about you. Some will say good things, while some will speak badly. As humans, if you are too much connected to social media or a mobile phone, you are spending too much time over there, you feel good or you feel bad. Sometimes, you know that there is no relevance to a comment but because we are humans, you still feel bad. So, especially before a tournament or when you're going through a lean patch, I always advise the youngsters to stay away from mobile," Dhoni added.

Retired from international cricket, not IPL: MS Dhoni

In the same event, a youngster asked Dhoni about the pressure of expectations before he retired. The host stopped the young man and reminded him that Dhoni had only retired from international cricket and not the IPL. The stalwart smiled and pointed to a CSK fan sitting in the audience.

After beating Gujarat Titans in the finals of IPL 2023, Dhoni said that he would push his body to play for another season as a return gift to his passionate fans. During this year's IPL, CSK enjoyed massive support even in away games and Dhoni was one of the primary reasons for the same.
