'Nalla irukku, Ash, Romba nalla irukku, Ash!' - Ravindra Jadeja congratulates Ravichandran Ashwin

Versatile Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja congratulated fellow teammate Ravichandran Ashwin in fluent Tamil after the latter accomplished the milestone of 500 wickets and 100 games in Test cricket. The 37-year-old became the second Indian bowler after the distinguished spinner Anil Kumble to take 500-plus wickets in the game's longest format. The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer made the twin achievements during the recently-concluded home series against England.

Jadeja and Ashwin led India's spin attack during the five-match Test series and claimed 45 wickets together. Ashwin emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the series, having picked up a total of 26 wickets in 10 innings at an average of 24.8 and an excellent economy rate of 4.12. And impressed by his achievements in the series, the CSK all-rounder was all praise for his India teammate.

“Hi Ash Anna! Congratulations on your 100 Test matches and 500 Test wickets. I am very happy for you. Your contribution to the Indian cricket team has been amazing. I wish you continue taking lots of wickets and also sharing your mastermind with me so that I can also keep taking wickets and become a great legend like you," Jadeja said in the clip shared by CSK on their official Instagram handle.

Jadeja further surprised the fans by speaking in Tamil.

“Meesa Vechavan Indran, Meesa Vekkathavan Chandran (The one with the moustache is Indran. The one without the moustache is Chandran,” the all-rounder called while referring to an iconic dialogue from an old Tamil movie ‘Thillu Mullu’.

“Nalla irukku, Ash, Romba nalla irukku, Ash! (Looking good, Ash. Looking very good!),” the 35-year-old added.

Rahul Dravid praises Ashwin for his rare achievements

Meanwhile, India head coach Rahul Dravid lavished praise on Ravichandran Ashwin for his unique achievements, stating the latter inspired a whole new generation of young spinners. His comments came while speaking during a ceremony conducted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) to felicitate Ashwin.
