Naveen-ul-Haq reveals infamous ‘sweet mangoes’ story from IPL 2023
Naveen and Virat cleared their differences during the ODI World Cup 2023.
Just a few days after Naveen-ul-Haq’s verbal spat with Virat Kohli during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Afghanistan pacer shared a photo of him having mangoes during a match between RCB and Mumbai Indians (MI). Naveen captioned the post ‘sweet mangoes’ and it instantly went viral all over social media as the timing of the post urged fans to link it with Kohli’s dismissal.
However, it was only recently, that the pacer clarified the situation and stated that the picture or the caption has nothing to do with the legendary batter. Naveen mentioned that he was chatting with support staff in the hotel room and expressed a desire to eat mangoes. It was arranged for him and then it was coincidental that the entire incident happened then.
“I had told Dhaval bhai (LSG team logistics) that I wanted to eat mangoes. And he got mangoes that night itself. When we went to Goa, he brought mangoes. So I was sitting in front of the screen and eating mangoes. There was no picture or anything (of Kohli), it was a Mumbai Indians player on the screen.
“So I wrote 'sweet mangoes' and everyone took it in a different way. So even I didn't say anything, I just left it. I thought it was mango season, so people's shops should also do well,” said Naveen in a video released by LSG.
Kohli-Naveen had a jovial time during ODI World Cup
Meanwhile, during India’s match against Afghanistan in the recently concluded ODI World Cup, Virat Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq were spotted having a laugh as the latter stated that the duo cleared their past differences. It all started with Mohammed Siraj’s long face-off with Naveen and after which, Kohli got involved. Then LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir too became a part of it after the match was over as it made headlines for several weeks. On the other hand, Naveen has been retained by LSG for IPL 2024.
