India's T20 World Cup campaign in Australia ended in heartbreak after they were dumped out of the tournament in the semis by the eventual champions England. Despite the disappointing eventuality, India produced one of the games of T20 World Cup history when they edged past arch-rivals Pakistan in a nerve-wracking thriller at the MCG. Former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who was the protagonist for the Men in Blue on a memorable night, recalled the game in his latest Instagram post.
The clash between India and Pakistan is never short of drama and entertainment as the nerves often get the better of players from both sides. But the Super 12 clash between the neighbors on the 23rd of October at the iconic MCG produced a game worthy of their epic rivalry. The Men in Green posted a competitive total of 159 runs on the back of half-centuries from Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed, recovering from their early setbacks.
The Indian team, who were out to exact revenge for their embarrassing loss against their nemesis in last year's competition, lost both the openers inside the powerplay during their chase. The result felt like a mere formality as the scoreboard read 31/4 in the seventh over. However, India's man of big occasions, Virat Kohli, stepped up, and stepped up spectacularly, guiding India to an unprecedented victory in a dramatic last over, with arguably his best innings in a T20I.

Remembering his once-in-a-lifetime knock against the fierce rivals, Kohli hailed it as a special moment in his cricketing career as he had never felt the kind of energy he felt on that historic night. The 34-year-old shared a picture from that game, reliving his iconic innings via his Instagram handle.
"October 23rd, 2022 will always be special in my heart. Never felt energy like that in a cricket game before. What a blessed evening that was," Virat wrote in his Instagram post.
