New Zealand Tri-series 2022: Fan plucks sensational catch during New Zealand vs Bangladesh clash
Spectators applauded the sensational catch taken by one of the fans in the stands.
New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are currently in the midst of a tri-series ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. The Kiwis locked horns with Bangladesh as the former registered a win by 48 runs on Wednesday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. However, the match caught attention as a fan pulled off a sensational catch in the stands during the match.
The incident took place in the 16th over of the New Zealand innings when Glenn Phillips blasted Shakib Al Hasan for a six off the third delivery. What followed was a screamer of a catch taken by one of the spectators sitting in the alley behind the cow corner boundary.
Delighted by the sublime catch, fellow spectators in the ground took notice immediately and appreciated the fan. Meanwhile, Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway dazzled for the Kiwis as both the batters struck half-centuries helping the team reach the finals.
Conway’s 40-ball 64 coupled with Phillips’ man-of-the-match 60 runs off just 24 balls helped the side attain a massive total of 208. The Kiwis put up another solid batting performance after their win against Pakistan and were impressive with the ball as they restricted the Bangla Tigers for 160. Shakib was the only player who tried to put up a show with the bat, scoring a 44-ball 70 that included a six and eight fours.
The Black Caps will now look to clinch the tri-series before entering the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Moreover, the fixtures are proving to be a good warm up for the main competition down under as side will look to build a balanced squad with momentum and consistency on their side.
New Zealand play Pakistan and will further cross swords with South Africa and Rohit Sharma-led team India in the warm-up fixtures before playing the regular tournament.
