Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria hit back at star Pakistan keeper Mohammad Rizwan after the latter dedicated Pakistan’s win against Sri Lanka to people who lost their lives in Gaza.

Taking to X, Kaneria stated that next time, the win should be dedicated to humanity. “Next time, dedicate your victory to humanity. The Almighty never supports cruelty. #IndvsPak” Danish Kaneria wrote on his X account.

Speaking of the original post, Pakistan registered a massive victory against Sri Lanka in match eight of the ODI World Cup 2023. Chasing a target of 345 runs, the brilliant centuries by Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique helped Pakistan win the game by six wickets.

After the win, Rizwan put on his X account, “This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute to the win. Credits go to the whole team, especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali, for making it easier. I am extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout.”

Pakistan loses its first game of 2023 World Cup

Speaking of Pakistan’s performance so far in the ODI World Cup 2023, the side has played three games in the tournament so far and has only lost one. Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan had defeated the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their first two games of the competition. However, they took on arch-rivals India in match 12 of the World Cup and succumbed to their first loss.

Coming out to bat first, Pakistan’s top-order did well as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan built a good partnership. However, after their dismissals, the middle order failed to capitalise as they were bundled out for a meagre total of 191 runs.

Aiming to defend the target, the side’s bowling attack fell prey to the dominance of Rohit Sharma. Shaheen Afridi was the highest wicket-taker, with two wickets to his name. However, India’s batters proved to be too much to handle for the side as India won the game by seven wickets and handed Pakistan their first loss of the tournament.
