Veteran Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews recently scripted an unwanted record, becoming the first-ever player to be dismissed in international cricket through timed out. The incident happened during Sri Lanka’s clash against Bangladesh in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on November 6.
Notably, he was declared out by the umpire in such a way following Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan appealing for the time out. Mathews reached the crease after Sadeera Samarawickrama's dismissal. In the video shared by Mathews, he could be seen arriving at the crease one minute and fifty seconds after the wicket fell. However, his helmet's strap comes off five seconds later as he calls for another one. He was later even seen speaking with Shakib but the Bangladeshi skipper was adamant and upheld his decision which led the umpire to follow the law.
He took to the micro blogging platform, X, and shared a short clip of the incident which also shows Shakib advancing towards the umpire for the appeal before the two-minute deadline expired.

4th umpire is wrong here! Video evidence shows I still had 5 more seconds even after the helmet gave away! Can the 4th umpire rectify this please? I mean safety is paramount as I just couldn’t face the bowler without a helmet
