Australia proved to be too much for the experimental Pakistan

In the match, Australia claimed a convincing victory over Pakistan by a margin of 62 runs. This win propelled them from the lower half of the points table to the fourth position, following a week of struggling in lower ranks. Australia was put into bat after losing the coin toss. Their opening batsmen, David Warner, who scored 163, and Mitchell Marsh, who contributed 121, both delivered splendid centuries, enabling their team to post an imposing total of 367/9.

It seemed Australia would surpass 400 runs, but Pakistan bowlers made a strong comeback in the late overs, led by Shaheen Afridi's impressive five-wicket haul. In response, Pakistan's batters displayed potential, keeping their team competitive for around 35 overs. However, their batting order crumbled in the latter part of the innings, ultimately being dismissed for 305. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa played a pivotal role with four key wickets, disrupting Pakistan's chase.
