India took their winning streak to three matches in the ODI World Cup 2023 on Saturday, October 15, with a professional performance against Pakistan at the colossal Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The comprehensive seven-wicket win was also India's eighth on the trot against Pakistan in ODI World Cups.

Notably, the 'Men in Blue' are yet to lose a game in the history of the marquee event against their arch-rivals. After India's significant win, celebrations in the team hotel were grand. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a picture of a gigantic cake in the team hotel, celebrating the eighth win for the former two-time ODI World Cup champions against Pakistan.

Pakistan got off to a breezy start as Mohammed Siraj conceded a few boundaries in his first few overs. However, he struck back in the eight over to dismiss last game's centurion, Abdullah Shafique. Hardik Pandya gave India the second breakthrough, as he sent Imam-ul-Haq packing after a fluent knock. The 'Men in Green' set a decent platform for their middle-order batters, courtesy of a half-century from Babar Azam.

Pakistan's collapse meant Team India continue their winning run in ODI World Cup 2023

However, wickets fell like a pack of cards in the ODI World Cup 2023 encounter, as Pakistan slipped from 155/2 to get bowled out for 191 in 42.5 overs. Five Indian bowlers finished with two wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah was the most economical bowler as he conceded just 19 runs in his seven overs.

India started with a flourish in their chase as Shubman Gill, who just recovered from dengue, hit four boundaries. The Punjab batter was dismissed for 16 and so was Virat Kohli. Skipper Rohit Sharma was in sublime touch as he pulverised the Pakistan bowling en route to a 53rd ODI half-century. The entertaining innings from the Indian skipper ended on 86 off 63 balls. However, Shreyas Iyer played till the end and remained not out on 53. This complete performance from the Indian side has catapulted them to the top of the table in the 10-team tournament.
