An Indian cricket enthusiast embarked on a memorable adventure at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore during the 18th match of the ICC World Cup 2023. However, this escapade started on a slightly comical note as he found himself amidst broken seats and mischievous pillars, playing a whimsical game of hide-and-seek with his view.
As the match unfolded, his attention shifted to the curious world of cricket fanatics. The players received amusing, unofficial nicknames such as 'Generator' and 'Roti Gang' for Hassan Ali. These monikers probably left the players bewildered but added a delightful layer of eccentricity to the experience.
Yet, not everything was light-hearted. Unruly behavior reared its head as some spectators resorted to below-the-belt comments. During the exits of Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan, the chant of "Jai Shree Ram" caused quite a stir, a scene eerily repeated in Ahmedabad.

First off, the ticket booking fiasco and sold out after first sale. I got the ticket 2 days ago on BMS, same time when Box sales of tickets were open for ₹2,143 pic.twitter.com/U0PoGzfqif
Match day: I started off with going in bus.

From Shanthi nagar to Shivaji nagar, there were no buses for 15 mins and when one came in, it was full with no place to stand.
There were couple of arrangements made for parking, a bit far from ground: https://t.co/TKej9YntVx pic.twitter.com/w2OWSVBRan
Then there was the absurd rules. Where BMS sent brochure asked to wear a cap, but the Police officials outside the stadium were asking to remove anything black - Cap and shirt.

Upon asking, they said it was limited to Black color only (Maybe to avoid any protest) pic.twitter.com/1rLzjPYLy0
Because of long queues, people missed almost first 5 overs. Gates were opened at 1 PM.

And the view ❤️ pic.twitter.com/3ffSqhj5cY
Food: there were vendors who were selling Ice cream (Nandini cone) - ₹50rs (MRP was ₹30) , Veg burger - ₹100 and Cold drinks - ₹50 (Thumbs up mostly)

Shoutout to Hangyo, selling at MRP and great taste pic.twitter.com/fCYNYUvUED
Another incident in my stand (M4 Stand) was a seat broke when a man in 40-50s was standing to cheer and while sitting it broke. Thankfully no injuries

And for pillar blocking views in other stadiums, there were stairs behind it, so not much of an issue pic.twitter.com/lfz7SZoBpu
Shadab and Marsh were the best near my stands, laughing and enjoying with the crowd. Warner Pushpa on the other end
— Mohammed Faisal (@faisal337_) October 21, 2023
Shaheen was fun too appreciated the crowd a lot and quite active at boundaries
Starc, Zampa chose to ignore - though there were people calling their name
Also women can try to avoid this, as there were some bad remarks being passed on.
— Mohammed Faisal (@faisal337_) October 21, 2023
And the leg room is none, so when they need to get up, they need to pass through all the men, some were quite uncomfortable, some choose the 5 seats of the stand end and others in corner pic.twitter.com/XLTNB5iF9j
There were some shouts for Kiccha Sudeep (I couldn't see him) and CM Siddaramiah and DCM DK Shivakumar when they waved to the crowd.
— Mohammed Faisal (@faisal337_) October 21, 2023
Couple of other stars also came in. Some Australian Ambassadr or Officials too, who later caused VVIP Traffic block 😑
The mascots and Volunteers - They were doing a thankless job, they came in almost all stands and cheered us up with the dance, fun and songs
— Mohammed Faisal (@faisal337_) October 21, 2023
There was a Tabla Cam, Sitar Cam, Jashn Cam and Aramco duel - winner getting a prize pic.twitter.com/R3bjCpS2lS
There was a huge traffic jam near Queen's Circle with both MG Road side and Kasturba Road people getting stuck.
— Mohammed Faisal (@faisal337_) October 21, 2023
Some 40-50 active Traffic & Civil police helping pedestrians cross the road too
And I totally forgot, this was the situation at 29th over (just before Flash light & Drinks break)
— Mohammed Faisal (@faisal337_) October 21, 2023
And there were NO 1L/2L WATER BOTTLES FOR SALE anywhere in the ground pic.twitter.com/5URWtwupMQ
And yes, please CARRY CASH, just 1 or 2 were accepting UPI and there was a network issue too
— Mohammed Faisal (@faisal337_) October 21, 2023
My Expense was
Ticket: ₹2,143
Jersey: ₹200
Food: ₹340
Travel: ₹50
Towards the end, the ₹30 Cone was selling for ₹70 and people had no choice.
Please plan in advance
The cricket connoisseur has some valuable advice for the ladies – steer clear of this spectacle, for it appears the realm of Chinnaswamy Stadium can be quite the peculiar experience. The fanfare included not-so-savory remarks floating, making it a veritable minefield of social discomfort. Imagine this: a dearth of legroom, leaving women to navigate through a sea of gents each time nature called.
During the intermission, the cricket fanatics stumbled upon an canopy of first aid, along with two separate plastic containers, wet and dry waste bins, all guarded by an army of enthusiastic volunteers.
As the match drew to a close, the ever-vigilant police force played dual roles as navigators and gourmet distributors. Some benevolent souls even shared surplus veg biryani, transforming the bus stops into impromptu dining hotspots. Watching Cricket, they say, isn't just a spectacle – it's a sideshow of endurance and woebegone smile at the end.
