Team India's speedster is winning the hearts of Indian and Dutch fans alike after he showed a benevolent gesture post the conclusion of the India versus Netherlands ODI World Cup 2023 match. Notably, Shami was seen talking with the young bowlers who wanted to learn some tricks from none other than the king of swing, Mohammed Shami.
Speaking of the performance of the 'Men in Orange' they were unable to stop the 'Men in Blue', who have been in some ominous form in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The magnitude of their domination can be understood by the fact that so far Team India have remained unbeaten, as they went on to win all nine games of the league stage. After having asked to field first, the Netherlands bowlers faced the wrath of none other than the skipper, Rohit Sharma, who along with his partner Shubman Gill, yet again took the bowlers to the cleaners.

As a result, courtesy of half-centuries from both the openers, Team India got a solid start with a 100-run stand. However, the misery of the Dutch bowlers did not just end there, as Virat Kohli ensured to keep the scoreboard ticking until Van der Merwe castled him after he got past his half-century. But little did the Dutch bowlers know that India still had more firepower to torment their bowling unit. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul showed their class and produced stunning centuries to help India post a gargantuan total of 410 in 50 overs.
Shami surprisingly remained wicketless in ODI World Cup 2023 game against the Netherlands
Speaking of the Netherlands' chase, they suffered an early jolt in the form of Wesley Barresi, who fell prey to Mohammed Siraj at the score of just four runs. Even though Max O'Dowd and Colin Ackermann showed some resistance upfront in a bid to keep the Dutch side in the hunt during their colossal run chase, the pressure of a huge score never went away. Interestingly enough, as the host captain Rohit Sharma experimented with the bowling by giving chance to star batters to get in the act. This meant that Mohammed Shami was not able to bowl all 10 overs of his bowling quota. Moreover, during his spell of six overs, Shami conceded 41 runs with an economy of 6.83 and remained wicketless despite having performed outstandingly in the previous ODI World Cup 2023 games for Team India.
The wickets kept falling at regular intervals but Sybrand Engelbrecht held the fort from one end, while more than half the Indian side were bowling for fun. However, the Dutch side showed some fighting spirit till the last, as Teja Nidamanuru top-scored for his side with a valiant knock of 54 runs off just 39 balls, which included six huge sixes and a boundary, respectively.
The moment of surprise came when key batters in the form of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav rolled their arms for India. Kohli who bowled after a span of nine years claimed a vital wicket of the Netherlands' captain, Scott Edwards. The adventure did not end there as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma too claimed the last wicket to seal the game for the hosts. Now Team India will take on New Zealand in the grand knockout phase of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The semifinal between the two sides will take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15.
