The Indian team is currently training in Barbados ahead of their multi-format series against the West Indies. India will be beginning their World Test Championship 2023-2025 cycle with the two-match Test series against the West Indies. The first Test will be played in Roseau, Dominica, beginning July 12.
Rohit Sharma and Co. had the privilege of meeting the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers, who paid a visit to India's training session. In a heartwarming video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their social media handles, the Indian players can be seen greeting the 86-year-old with utmost respect.
India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, introduced the talented Shubman Gill to the legendary all-rounder from Barbados. Dravid hailed Gill as one of the most exciting players in the team.

The Punjab batter has been on fire of late. He is coming off a sensational Indian Premier League season where he amassed 890 runs in 17 matches, winning the Orange cap in the process. In nine ODIs, in 2023, Gill has scored 624 runs at an average of 78. He also scored a belligerent 208 against New Zealand earlier this year, his first double-hundred in international cricket. The 23-year-old also scored his first T20I hundred this year against the same opposition.
India's schedule leading to World Cup 2023
The Indian team will be returning to action after a month's rest when they take on the West Indies in the first of a two-match Test series on July 12. Games are going to come thick and fast from hereon for the Indian contingent as they prepare to play the 2023 ODI World Cup in their own backyard in October-November.
After the Tests against the West Indies, India will face them in three ODIs and three T20Is. The Asia Cup will follow in September.
