‘Only a few people know what you've done for me’ - Yuzvendra Chahal bids emotional farewell to RR mate Jos Buttler
Both Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal have been released by Rajasthan Royals.
Both Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal have been released by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The inaugural champions retained Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson for INR 18 crore each, Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag for INR 14 crore each, Shimron Hetmyer for INR 11 crore and Sandeep Sharma for INR 4 crore. This confirmed the departure of one of the most celebrated duos in Chahal and Buttler.
Even since the leg-spinner joined the squad in 2022, he built an excellent rapport with the England white-ball captain. They shot multiple reels and many of their funny incidents during the course of the tournament went viral on social media. One such was when Chahal and Buttler exchanged their purple and orange caps respectively during the 2022 edition. Apart from that, the Haryana-born cricketer also expressed the desire to open with Buttler in a game but that was only for fun’s sake.
After their departure, Chahal shared an emotional video from their time in Rajasthan. He shared glimpses of behind-the-scenes of their reels, and a few laugh-worthy moments and also penned down an emotional message stating the importance of Buttler in his journey. He also once again joked about his will to open the batting with the swashbuckling batter.
“In 2022 I knew him as Jos Buttler. In 2024, he's my Jos bhai. Loved every day being around you and only a few people know what you've done for me. Thank you for always standing by me. And hopefully, on some evening at 7.30 PM, we both will open the batting together,” Chahal wrote and used the song ‘Mainu vida karo’ in the background of the video he shared on his 'X' handle.
