Suryakumar Yadav, the T20I star of the year 2022, is currently standing amid a pool of concerns over his form after a horrid show in the recently concluded ODIs against Australia. The prolific batter of India is yet to make a mark in the 50-over format and his dismal run came under the further spotlight after he bagged three golden ducks against Kangaroos. While Yadav was left clueless against Mitchell Starc’s brilliance in the opening two ODIs, Ashton Agar stunned the Mumbai batter in the final ODI.

In the same line of events, former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has kept aside Yadav’s recent struggles and backed him to come to the top in the coming days. Singh added that every sportsperson goes through his share of highs and lows while calling MI batter the key player for India. The 41-year-old is of the belief that Yadav can shine bright in the days to come if given an opportunity and would be instrumental in India’s campaign in World Cup.

“Every sports person goes thru ups & downs in their career! We’ve all experienced it at some point. I believe @surya_14kumar is a key player for India & will play an imp role in the #WorldCup if given the opportunity. Let’s back our players coz our Surya will rise again,” tweeted Yuvraj Singh.

The 32-year-old, who was up against injured Iyer in the three-match ODI series against Australia, failed to stand tall for India under crunch moments and showed his back without troubling the scorers. It remains to be seen how he makes his case strong in the ODIs, moving into the World Cup later this year. He boasts of 1675 runs in 48 T20Is, averaging a stunning 46.52 whereas he has only 433 runs to his name in 23 ODIs, averaging merely 24.05

Yadav will next be seen flaunting class for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 as he stands to be a vital cog in the five-time champion’s campaign in the lucrative T20 tournament.
