PAK vs ENG: Ben Stokes pledges to donate match fees to Pakistan flood appeal

England skipper Ben Stokes has pledged to donate all his match fees from the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan to the flood relief campaign. 

The torrential monsoon rains triggered one of the most horrifying incidents in Pakistan’s recent history. A lot of villages were reported to be underwater, leaving more than 10 million people on immediate medical help. At least 1700 people are recorded to be dead so far and thus, Pakistan are in a dire situation.

Stepping up to help, Ben Stokes has decided to donate his match fees against Pakistan to flood appeal of th Asian nation. In an official statement released by the cricketer, Stokes mentioned giving something back to the people that goes far behind cricket. The two-time World Champion also prayed that his donation will play a part towards the rebuilding of the country.

“The floods that devasted Pakistan earlier in the year was very sad to see and has had significant impact on the country and the people. The game has given me a lot in my life and I feel it’s only right to give something back that goes far beyond cricket. I will be donating my match fees from this Test series to the Pakistan Flood Appeal,” the 31-year-old tweeted on Monday, November 28.

“Hopefully this donation can go towards the rebuilding of areas of Pakistan most affected by the flooding,” Stokes concluded.

The three-match Test series to begin on December 1

For the first time in 17 years, the England team has travelled to Pakistan for a Test series. All the members of the team along with support staff received a warm welcome from the local authorities before the first Test at Rawalpindi on December 1.

The tour also marks skipper Ben Stokes’ first visit to Pakistan. Speaking about which, the 31-year-old revealed his excitement and said that he’s eagerly waiting for the series.

“In terms of the tour itself, I'm really looking forward to it. We know what the sub-continent feels about the cricket, it's a huge part of their life, and we're looking forward to going out there,” Stokes said.
