Pakistan batter Tahir Baig departs after one-of-a-kind 'hit wicket' dismissal during National T20 Cup match
Mirza Tahir Baig was dismissed bizarrely during Pakistan's National T20 Cup fixture on Saturday, December 2.
Pakistani batter Mirza Tahir Baig was involved in one of the most bizarre 'hit wicket' dismissals of all time during an encounter between Abbottabad and Sialkot in Pakistan's National T20 Cup fixture on Saturday, December 2.
In the 12th over, Baig was out 'hit wicket' while trying to play a pull shot off the back foot against Abbottabad spinner Yasir Shah. As he transferred his weight onto his back foot, he suffered cramps and couldn't keep his balance. Baig fell onto his stumps to be dismissed in a unique and unfortunate way.
The right-handed batter grimaced in pain as he fell on his backside in an awkward way. Unfortunately, he had to make his way back to the pavilion.
Earlier, Sialkot captain Shoaib Malik won the toss and elected to bat first. Baig scored an enterprising 29-ball 38, belting three fours and two sixes during his knock to finish as Sialkot's top-scorer. They were restricted to 119/8 in 20 overs as Yasir stood out for Abbottabad with a three-for.
In reply, Abbottabad got off to a solid start as openers Sajjad Ali and Anees Azam put on 32 runs. The former was dismissed for a 45-ball 50 as Abbottabad reached their target of 120 with five wickets and 14 balls to spare.
Both teams now have one win each after playing two games. Sialkot are currently placed at No. 3 with a net run-rate (NRR) of +0.665 in the Super Eight stage. Abbottabad, on the other hand, are stationed at No. 4 with an NRR of -0.362. Sialkot will face Rawalpindi in their next clash, in Karachi, on December 3. Meanwhile, Abbottabad will take on FATA on the same day.
