October 18, 2024, was a day to remember in Pakistan cricket, and will certainly be cherished for a long time. The red-ball team put forth a spirited performance in the second Test against England to register their first Test victory in home conditions in 1348 days.

After a thumping loss by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test, a plethora of changes were made in the roster as red-ball mainstays like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah were excluded from Pakistan's plans.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez took to X and stated that what Pakistan needed was match-winning contributions and not factories hell-bent on marketing their favourite players.

His tweet had four names, three of whom did not feature in the first Test. Salman Agha was the only one to have played the first Test at the same venue. Though he could not capitalise in the first innings, he made the most out this time as he rescued the hosts from a precarious position to guide Pakistan to a respectable total.

Kamran Ghulam was the star with the bat in the first innings, as he brought up his maiden international ton while donning the Pakistani whites. Coming in at 19/2, he steadied the ship perfectly and brought up the milestone in as composed a manner as they come by.

The spin duo of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali was something England could not surpass. The first innings saw Sajid pick up a seven-wicket haul, with Noman picking up three. The next innings saw the complete reversal of figures, with 38-year-old Noman running riot to end up with 8/46.
