Pat Cummins silences British Journalist with blunt take after Headingley loss
The star pacer has displayed tremendous maturity in handling the hostile line of questioning from the English journalists over the last few days.
Ben Stokes' England finally managed to get over the line in the Ashes after a thrilling three-wicket victory in a hard-fought contest at Headingley. Despite England's triumph, Australian skipper Pat Cummins was at his sublime best in the post-match interview, shutting down a British Journalist with an uncomplicated response.
Australian skipper Pat Cummins has been in the line of fire ever since Jonny Bairstow's controversial dismissal in the second Test at Lord's. However, the star pacer has displayed tremendous maturity in handling the hostile line of questioning from the English journalists over the last few days.
Following the narrow loss in Leeds, the Australian skipper was asked if the momentum had shifted in the home side's favour ahead of the decisive Test in Manchester. But the Aussie skipper was having none of it as he silenced the journalist with a blunt response.
"As the series heads to Manchester, do you fear maybe the momentum has shifted in England's favour?" enquired the journalist.
"Not really, no," replied Cummins.
"Why not?" the journalist asked seeking an explanation.
"2-1," replied Cummins, amusing several others at the presser.
We will brush this one off and make sure we get ready for Manchester: Cummins
The Australian skipper also lamented the missed opportunities on a dramatic fourth day in Leeds. However, he is confident of a response from his men in the upcoming fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester, commencing in a few days' time.
"It's a shame, and it's one of the games you look at and everyone thinks you could have done something just a little bit different that might have contributed to a different result. But we've all played enough cricket, so [we will] brush this one off and make sure we get ready for Manchester," Cummins further said in the press conference.
