PBKS vs LSG: Marcus Stoinis injures his finger while taking low catch off his own bowling
Lucknow Super Giants posted the second-highest score in the history of IPL after totalling 257/5 in the first innings.
The Indian Premier League 2023 has been an enthralling affair so far as fans have got to see several mouth-watering encounters. The 38th match on Friday, April 28 between Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants was no different as several records got shattered during the first innings of the match.
After being put in to bat first by PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, LSG posted the second-highest total in IPL history as they scored 257/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis was the top scorer for the KL Rahul-led side as he scored 72 off 40 balls smashing six fours and five sixes in his innings.
After wreaking havoc with the bat, the Australian all-rounder continued his magic with the ball as well, as he got the prized scalp of PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan in the first over itself and got his team off to a rollicking start. Just when everything was going well for the 33-year-old, he ended up injuring his finger in the third over of the innings and was taken off the field.
On the fifth ball of the third over of the second innings, Stoinis ran in to bowl to Atharva Taide and got hit on his fingers as he tried to catch the ball hit by Taide straight back at him. Stoinis was seen in excruciating pain as the physio came running in to assess him. After much inspection, Stoinis was taken off the field in the middle of the over and Ayush Badoni bowled the last ball.

0Coming back to the first innings, Lucknow posted a massive total of 257/5 in their allotted 20 overs as Kyle Mayers (54 off 24), Ayush Badoni (43 off 24), Stoinis (72 off 40) and Nicholas Pooran (45 off 19) took Punjab’s bowling to the cleaners. Amid the carnage, Rahul Chahar bowled an economical spell of 0/29 in four overs for PBKS.
In reply, Punjab lost Shikhar Dhawan (1 off 2) and Prabhsimran Singh (9 off 13) inside the powerplay and were 55/2 after six overs.
