Icons from different fields, Virat Kohli and Indra Nooyi, attended an event, hosted by The Indian consulate in New York on Tuesday, June 11. India are set to square off against the USA for the first time in international cricket on June 12. They are the top two teams in Group A of the 2024 T20 World Cup and India will look to assure themselves a Super Eight slot with a win at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, The Indian consulate in New York hosted Team India. Among the other notable guests who attended the event in New York City was Indra Nooyi, the former CEO of PepsiCo.

BCCI President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, and Vice President Rajeev Shukla also graced the event with their presence. India's head coach Rahul Dravid and the players met the eminent members of the Indian diaspora from different walks of life.
"Cheering for Team India to go back home with the T20 World Cup," the Indian consulate in New York wrote on its official X handle, sharing photos from the reception.
Can Virat Kohli light up T20 World Cup 2024 after a quiet start?
After finishing as the highest run-scorer in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kohli took a short break before joining his India teammates ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. He missed India's solitary warm-up game against Bangladesh.

India decided to have the Delhi batter open alongside captain Rohit Sharma in the first game against Ireland but the move didn't pay dividends. Kohli was dismissed cheaply for one. He also had a disappointing outing in the following match against Pakistan, managing only four runs. The legendary cricketer would want to get back among the runs on Wednesday against a buoyant USA side.
