Legendary Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has given India a big challenge, asking them to play a 10-match series across all formats against Pakistan. After Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, Mushtaq made these comments where they failed to win a single match and were eliminated in the group stage.

India thrashed Pakistan by six wickets in the ongoing Champions Trophy in Dubai and continued their dominance over their arch-rivals in ICC events. The one-sided contest led many fans and experts to question whether the Indo-Pak rivalry is still as competitive as it once was.

Following the Men in Green's elimination, Mushtaq challenged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to schedule a multi-format series. According to him, such a series would provide clarity on which team is better.

"If we keep political things aside, their players are outstanding and they have been playing good cricket. If you are a good team, I think let’s play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs and 10 T20Is against Pakistan, then everything would become clear. If we get our preparation right and sort out things in the right direction, then we will be in a situation where we can give solid answers to the world and India as well," Mushtaq said while speaking on 24 News HD channel.

Pakistan’s performance in the home Champions Trophy was a major shock. They lost their opening game against New Zealand by 60 runs before suffering a six-wicket defeat to the Men in Blue. Their last group-stage match against Bangladesh was washed out, leaving them with just one point from three games and finishing at the bottom of Group A.

This was Pakistan’s third consecutive early exit from a white-ball tournament, following their group-stage eliminations in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup. The team’s struggles were noticeable, with their batters playing 161 dot balls against New Zealand and 147 against India.

Earlier, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar also opined on an India-Pakistan bilateral series. He revealed that the only way of having a series will be only when there is peace at the borders.
