Team West Indies suffered humiliation as they made an early exit from the T20 World Cup 2022 after losing another encounter in the first-round matches being played in the competition. The Men in Maroon suffered a heart-breaking defeat against Ireland in a match played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on October 21 (Friday).

Meanwhile, the fans and cricket experts lashed out at the West Indies for such a mediocre performance in the competition. West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran could also not do anything special with the bat and his leadership quality was also scrutinized by the West Indies fans blaming him for the team's poor performance in the tournament.

Ireland completed a thumping victory over West Indies

Speaking about the game, Ireland was simply brilliant with the ball as they restricted West Indies to 146-5. Just like the case earlier in the tournament, West Indies’ batting struggled in the match with batter Brandon King playing an unbeaten knock of 62 runs off 48 balls but got no support from the other end.

Chasing a small total, Irish batters came out swinging as they scored 73 runs for the first wicket in just 7.3 overs. Paul Stirling batted extremely well and scored unbeaten 66 off 48 balls to script a magnificent victory. He got good support from Lorcan Tucker who scored unbeaten 45 off 35.

As mentioned above,  West Indies were very average with their performance with both bat and the ball. The skipper Nicholas Pooran also struggled to score runs as he threw his wicket on several occasions despite his team being in a tough situation.

Speaking about Pooran's performance with the bat, the left-handed batter was cleaned up by Michael Leask after he scored just five runs in nine balls in the first game. The former champions had to suffer a defeat against Scotland in that match and started horribly in the competition.

In the second game as well, Pooran took nine deliveries and scored just seven runs before being dismissed by the left-arm spinner, Sean Williams. Pooran tried to be proactive in the third game against Ireland, as he also hit a maximum. However, his innings was ended by leg-spinner Gareth Delany as Pooran wasted another start.
